my headcanon after the war is that towards the end of her recovery they keep Shepard in the hospital for an extra week because she still has difficulty sleeping and will seemingly stay up for days on end with very little sleep.
 
Joker comes by every evening after work to visit and they play cards or watch films together until she drops off, and if she does in the middle of the activity Joker doesn’t mind.
And their deal is if either of them falls asleep during their favourite part of a movie they have to wake the other person up no matter what.
